    1. sulphates? huh? star rating

I do love the mixed chicks range, HOWEVER! I accidentally ordered this shampoo instead of the sulphate free one. I had no idea mixed chicks produced a shampoo with all those nasties in anyway? They'd do better to discontinue this particular one and carry on selling the sulphate free one. Anyway, assumed it was the one I usually purchase, and used for a good month before I realised something wasn't right. Hair was very dry and frizzy, easily matted, de-hydrated, broke and the speed of nots etc etc. (3c hair with some 4a type around crown area). In my confused and frustrated state I double check the ingredients and low and behold, I unwittingly purchased this devil in a bottle. My fault I guess, however they really should market it in a very clear way.
BUT, I must say, if you have type 3c curls, the SULPHATE FREE shampoo is 10/10 and I would highly recommend! Mixed chicks is ace. This particular shampoo is pants. LOVE LOVE BritishCurlies though

    2. DOES WHAT IT SAYS star rating

I love the way Mixed Chicks shampoo does what it says it will do, and leaves my hair feeling soft and manageable, fresh and clean from all the build up throughout the week. It really is gentle and smells nice.
I very happy with this shampoo!

    3. Drying star rating

Needed a lot of deep conditioning after this!
It made my hair clean which I guess was the goal, but my hair felt like straw afterwards:-(

    4. I really wanted to love this product... star rating

This is a great product & would get four stars from me, however, the sulfates in the shampoo destroy my hair. The smell is great & the shampoo is easy to distribute. It works up a wonderful lather & clarifies my hair of all product buildup and dirt... However, the ingredients that make it such an excellent clarifying shampoo are giving me grief. Once those sulfates get into my hair, it takes a whale load of moisturizer to get my hair half decent. I have been using the whole product line, but I'm lacking much needed moisture and my hair is beginning to dry out. I have 3b/3c hair. My son has 3c/4a hair & this shampoo makes his hair wiry. I am aware of the sulfate free version & I would recommend that over the regular version. However, I'm moving onto more moisturizing, more organic type products. I think I will use this product once a month to clarify my hair until I run out, but I will definitely follow with a super deep conditioning.

    5. very average shampoo star rating

Posted by singing curly (M) on 22nd Feb 2011

I'm sorry but as far as I'm concerned this shampoo does absolutely nothing more than any other average supermarket shampoo. It's a terribly average product. It did not dry my hair out but then neither does Pantene pro V!And I certainly did not feel that it removed all the product build up in my hair. I'm glad I got this as a gift sample with my purchases because I most definitely would have been annoyed had I paid full price for it!

    6. Best shampoo I've ever used, hands down star rating

Posted by oddityofwings on 26th Sep 2010

I consider myself generally full-CG. I shampoo maybe once a month at most and co-wash most days. However, I cannot use normal 'lo-poos' because my hair's sensitive to coco betaine on its own. Finding a gentle sulfate shampoo is difficult, and Mixed Chicks is the best I've ever found. My hair feels clean, not stripped, and ready for another month of co-washing. Smell is lovely - orangey-tropical - and the texture is lovely, like feathery foam.

    7. did not live up to expectations star rating

Posted by Unknown on 10th Sep 2010

Being a "mixed chick" myself with type 3b/3c hair I was very excited when my sample of this arrived. Unfortunately it did nothing for my hair and left it the same way all the other supermarket shampoos did.

Not to say my hair was left in a terrible state.. it was just an average shampoo. I can certainly say after trying about 7 different shampoos off this site that it is certainly not the best one!

    8. A godsend for mixed race hair! star rating

Posted by Karis on 26th May 2010

I cannot be without this product! My hair actually feels softer, more moisturised and practically tangle free after having used this - completely unheard of for a shampoo! I only use it once a week and it removes all the buildup from oils and leave-ins gently but effectively. It smells nice and lasts forever, so it's actually good value for money too.

All the mixed chicks products are great, but this is something that I absolutely swear by as a type 3c/4a. Try it, you'll love it!

    9. Great shampoo star rating

Posted by Unknown on 17th Aug 2009

Mixed Chicks is a great line of simple products to use - no muss, no fuss. The shampoo goes on my hair and washes out easily. I feel like that it has taken previous product out without stripping down my hair. Good product!

    10. left my hair feeling buzzingly clean star rating

Posted by Georgie on 29th May 2009

Being a type 3 curl I don't usually shampoo my hair but was intrigued by how fantastic the product looked, the ingredients are great. The shampoo left my hair with the fantastic buzzy clean feeling which just carried on and on and wasn't replaced by the itchy dry feeling I unfortunately know so well.
