    1. good but not great star rating

      Posted by butterflybeeswellbeing@gmail.com on 17th Apr 2018

It feels good on my hair, and moisturises well. Not keen on the smell as it smells artificial rather than natural.

It is the only shampoo that works with my natural curly hair. I recommend

I have been using this for a few years it does a good job cleansing my hair without stripping it. I use it with the conditioner - I think my hair is a 2c

I've used this product for a few years - I rotate it with other 'clean' products . From the first time I used it I noticed the difference my hair is soft - I can run my fingers through it easily . I use it with the shea moisture restorative conditioner. It continues to perform.

    5. 2a/2b hair star rating

Posted by Samia on 20th Oct 2016

This shampoo smells incredible, I love it! however I might have to stop using it since my hair don't feel so damaged anymore. Plus I fear it may be too strong of a shampoo for my thin and wavy hair. I will either move to co-wash or just a thinner one. I have to wash my hair about 3 to 4 times a week due to sports and the Raw shea butter tends to dry my hair after sometime.
      - smells incredible, I could keep using it only for the smell :-p
      - a little goes a looong way, my regular size bottle lasted 8 months!
      - great texture to apply to the hair.

    6. EXCEPTIONAL HAIRCARE star rating

This wonderful shampoo and conditioner is extremely effective and has transformed my seriously dry dead breaking hair to silky smooth and shiny and it is chemical free - cannot live without it.

    7. Dried out my mom´s hair star rating

Posted by Unknown on 10th Nov 2014

I bought two of these shampoes, one for me and my mom. But after I saw what it did to my mom´s hair, I didn´t dare try it out on my own. My mom has dry curly hair, but after using this shampoo, her hair was so dry like I have never seen it before. That´s why I onlygive it 1 star.

    8. Good Shampoo - cleans well star rating

Posted by kj on 3rd Nov 2014

I tend to alternate between co-washing and shampooing. I especially like to shampoo when I've been swimming or exercising a lot. This works for me - doesn't really strip the hair but does make it feel really clean. To be fair I've liked all the Shea Moisture shampoos I have tried. I can't say this one is much more moisturising than the others and I still prefer to co-wash where I can.

    14. My favourite shampoo :) star rating

Posted by Samantha on 16th Jan 2014

I first discovered Shea Moisture a few years ago back in the U.S when I first decided to go natural and decided to try a few products to see what agreed with my hair.
Fast forward to 4 years later and the Raw Shea Butter Moisture Shampoo is still my personal favourite, I have tried numerous others and always come back to this one as it leaves my hair feeling soft and moisturised and smells great.
Lathers well and leaves both my hair and scalp feeling extremely clean, would definitely recommend!

    15. Very Good Shampoo star rating

I do love this shampoo but its not the best as it does leave my scalp feeling very dry.

    16. My go to shampoo star rating

Posted by Olamide on 8th Jan 2014

This shampoo is very moisturising indeed! My first time using the shampoo was an odd experience however. I found it difficult to work the product into my hair to clean my scalp at first, I tried to lather the product into my hair a few times but to no avail, leading me to believe the shampoo was a no-lather product. However on like my 5th attempt in the same wash, I discovered that it does give a lovely lather and it began to actually clean my hair. Why this happened to me I'm not quite sure but it could be that my hair was particularly oily at the time of washing. Nevertheless I enjoyed the result after washing and my mum loves the shampoo too, her first experience was better than mine as she says she only had to use a very small amount to get a brilliant result. I have even used the shampoo as a face wash knowing that the ingredients will not do any harm to my skin and I was left with very supple skin!

Great and very rich conditioning shampoo, I like to use it days before coloring my hair which keeps it soft and moisturized.

Posted by Natalie on 24th Aug 2013

I like this shampoo because it helps to keep my hair soft and clean without stripping it of oils or leaving it feeling heavy. It's the first sulphate-free shampoo I've used and I will definitely keep using it :)

    20. Fantastic shampoo! star rating

Posted by Unknown on 25th Jul 2013

I tried this shampoo feeling apprehensive but I was definitely proved wrong. It doesn't strip the hair but provides a gentle cleanse and the hair feels soft and manageable afterwards. It smells great and I've had mine for about a year now and I've still got loads left with shampooing every week. So although its pricey, it goes a long way and is worth it for those of us whose hair doesn't like sulfates. 4b hair

    25. One of the worst shampoo's I've ever used! star rating

Posted by Nadia on 2nd May 2013

The first time I used the shampoo , I thought I'd found my shampoo: it smelled nice, it was good for my scalp and my hair looked good afterwards. After that I noticed that my curls weren't there anymore, my hair became slick and it was almost as if I had electricity in my hair: it stood up for no reason. After 6 to 8 times using the shampoo, I gave it to my sister. I assumed that the shampoo was too heavy for my hair. I have curls, but I have very thin hair. My sister has very thick and curly hair. In the beginning she was thrilled with the shampoo, but afterwards she stopped using it: the ends (about 2 to 3 centimeters) of her hair have become very dry and hay-like.
I wouldn't recommend this shampoo to anyone!

    26. Never going back to artificial! star rating

Posted by Unknown on 29th Apr 2013

      Absolutely love this shampoo.
All the natural products make it perfect for repairing my damaged hair!
Love it even though as it origins come from Sierra Leone woo woo!

    27. Moisturising [4b/c hair] star rating

Posted by Dami on 16th Apr 2013

First couple of times I tried this... my hair was a softish cotton ball. But I wasn't really raving about it. However, for the past few weeks, my hair has been limp and lifeless, think my DC's had been accidentally protein rich. So, I tried it again, shampooing my hair in sections. And my hair was HAPPY and Moisturized :)

    28. Excellent star rating

Posted by Anais on 21st Mar 2013

One of the best shampoo I've ever used. I have dry hair and after a few uses it's already more supple and less frizzy. Also, I love how this shampoo cleanses my hair perfectly without being agressive.
I will definitely buy it again, it's my holy graal.

    29. Lovely lathering rich shampoo star rating

Posted by Julia on 16th Mar 2013

I have fine 3b curls that can get really dry and frizzy. I found this shampoo had lots of lovely lather and gave my hair plenty of slip when rinsed it out (smells nice too) so I didn't need to condition after and combing my hair was easy. My curls dried shiny and bouncy.

    30. SORRY but...just bad star rating

      Posted by 4cHairbeauty on 6th Mar 2013

First, I'll mention my hair type because this precision really helps in giving you an idea.

Type 4c hair (the tiniest of curls), very thirsty hair, dry ends, average porosity (way it absorbs water), dense (lots of hair strands on scalp), medium length. Very cottony, light afro hair.

I was looking for a shampoo to alternate with my usual Jessicurl Cleansing cream. For my hair, it was a mistake. It seems to work well for others.

      PROS of SheaMoisture shampoo

I like the bottle. Product gets out easily.

I liked the texture of the shampoo.

I like that the company is involved in fair trade in Africa.

The price is great compared to my usual expenses.

To give you an idea of my routine (Jessicurl clansing cream, Deep conditioner: Repair me (CJ) or Curl Harmony (Intensive Mask) + Curl Junkie Smoothing lotion as a leave in OR Hairveda Whipped ends + Afroveda Hemp seed butter or MyHoney child Type 4 (despite overpowering smell). The expense is also coming from my wanting to try most brands, I have tried mos the brands out there. Long story.

      CONS of Shea Moisture Shampoo
This product did not clean my hair.

      It left a coated feel.

I then had to use a gentle cleanser (Jessicurl cleansing cream) to wash this out.

      No moisture left.

Had to deep condition to get my hair back into shape.
This is a very negative experience I did not expect

This is my third purchase of this line and I've had poor results with the 3 items I tried. There must be something in the line that does not work for my hair. But try it for yourself.

    31. Good shampoo! star rating

Posted by Perfectgirl on 5th Mar 2013

J'aime beaucoup ce shampoing. Il nettoie très bien et laisse les cheveux hydratés. Par contre je ne suis pas fan de l'odeur que je trouve forte.
La compo de ce shampoing remporte 5 stars!!! Elle est top.

    32. Foamy and good cleanser star rating

Posted by Unknown on 27th Feb 2013

Encouraged by the positive reviews here, I sent off for the shamppo.
First of all:there are suds! It's great that a non sulphate shampoo is so foamy so that I feel that my hair is actually being cleaned.
It left my hair moisturised and quite soft. I'll see how it goes.Am impressed!

    33. Not Impressed star rating

Posted by Maza on 22nd Feb 2013

Bought this after reading all the positive reviews however when i tried this product was not impressed & my hair didn't feel moisturized at all . my hair is quite thin & thought this would work wonders but i was wrong.

    34. Moisture but gummy feel star rating

Posted by Ella on 21st Jan 2013

It's a good shampoo. It does not strip the hair nor leave it feeling dry. The smell is ok, not great, but not annoying. I would have given it 4 stars if it did not have a bit of a gummy feel. I will finish the bottle on my daughter's 3b hair. As for my 4c hair, I will go back to using Jessicurl's cleansing cream.

    35. prob the best shampoo I've ever used star rating

I love this shampoo for my thick combination 3c hair. Its natural, cleansing & very moisturising at the same time. It goes a long way so its a good investment

Posted by Unknown on 16th Oct 2012

One of the best shampoos I've used!!. Moisturises and cleans my hair without it feeling stripped. Has am still in transition, it works well with both textures

    37. Meh star rating

Posted by Unknown on 8th Oct 2012

I just think this shampoo is ok. My hair didn't feel stripped when I used it but it didn't feel 'juicy' either. I have coarse 4a/b hair. I woukdn't repurchase this.

    38. It's ok star rating

Posted by Unknown on 19th Jun 2012

I have thick, dry, coily hair. This didn't strip my hair but there are cheaper shampoos that do the same.

    39. THIS SAVED ME TO BE NATURAL star rating

      Posted by Amanda-Jane on 17th May 2012

Just what the headline says!!! This shampoo lathers instantly is rich and super creamy, so you will get your moneys worth!!! I have never felt so passionate about a shampoo and to be honest didn't expect to. It feels like a conditioner when rinsing and rinsed out, however it leaves your scalp clean and hydrated. My brillo, coarse, horse hair kinks and curls love this stuff. Perfect if you have colour treated, dry, extremely dry and damaged hair and your protein sensitive (all those combined are rare since manufactures link "dry/damaged" to lack of protein??? This contains no protein just pure moisture in a bottle. How Shea Moisture can get it all right with a shampoo out of all products is beyond me, but they have no competition!!! :D

    40. Good moisturising shampoo star rating

Posted by Black Beauty on 6th May 2012

A good sulfate free shampoo that lathers and cleans well leaving my hair feeling soft and well moisturized.
It also has a nice smell to it which must be the honeysuckle.
I will repurchase again and I recommend to anyone who wants a shampoo that is moisturising. Even though it leaves my hair well moisturized I still use a conditioner and deep condition my hair afterwards at all times. Don't rely on the moisturising benefits of this shampoo and skip conditioner and deep conditioner which is not recommended.
